The new International Access Symbol, valid since December 2020, is an identification document for vehicles of persons with disabilities in the City of Buenos Aires. This symbol can be managed digitally through the Mi Argentina app by the vehicle owner or their legal representative. It allows free transit and parking, always respecting the traffic regulations of each locality.
The validity of the Symbol is the same as that of the Unique Disability Certificate (CUD). In case of vehicle rental, its validity expires in three or 24 hours, as appropriate. The license plate associated with the Symbol can be modified according to the person's needs.
To verify the validity of the Symbol, one can refer to the Public Inquiry System, by vehicle license plate at the National Disability Agency or through the Symbol Inquiry. Validity checks can be carried out using the QR code that must contain information about ownership, validity, and associated license plate.
In 2021, it was established that only the document in digital format is valid, so if one has the Symbol prior to that date, it is necessary to renew it. The National Disability Agency announced adjustments for the renewal of the CUD in 2025, maintaining free access to public transport for CUD holders.
The CUD is a public and free document that certifies a person's disability condition for mobility. To obtain it, one must go to the Evaluation Board that analyzes the submitted studies and decides its granting. Persons with intellectual, mental, visual, motor, auditory, respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, digestive/hepatic disabilities can access the CUD.
The benefits granted by the CUD include free access to public transport, coverage of basic health services, the right to parking and free transit with the International Access Symbol, family allowances, and exemptions from municipal fees.
